Terms of Service

These terms cover the TourneyEngine Discord bot and this website. By adding the bot to a server, entering a tournament, or signing in here, you agree to them.

What TourneyEngine is

A tool for running tournaments in a Discord server. Organizers create a tournament, people sign up, and the bracket is published on a public page on this site.

We are a tool, not the organizer. Tournaments are run by the people whose server they are in. We do not set their rules, decide their disputes, or provide their prizes.

Who can use it

You need a Discord account in good standing and must meet Discord’s minimum age — 13, or higher where your local law requires it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Organizers

If you add the bot to a server or run a tournament with it, you agree that:

• you have permission to add the bot to that server;
• the tournament is yours — its rules, its conduct, its disputes, and any entry fee or prize are between you and your entrants, and nothing to do with us;
• anything you write or upload (names, descriptions, rules, round headers, banners) is yours to use and does not infringe anyone else’s rights;
• you will handle your entrants’ information responsibly, and understand that bracket pages are public;
• you will not use the tool to harass, exclude unlawfully, or otherwise mistreat the people who sign up.

Prizes and entry fees

We take no part in prizes or entry fees. We do not hold, transfer or guarantee money or goods. If a prize is not paid, that is a matter between you and the organizer, and we have no way to resolve it. Organizers are responsible for running anything with an entry fee or prize lawfully in their own jurisdiction.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• use TourneyEngine to break the law or Discord’s own terms;
• harass, threaten or abuse anyone through it;
• upload content that is unlawful, hateful, or that you have no right to use, including banner images;
• attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or work around its limits or permission checks;
• impersonate someone else, or sign somebody up in order to mislead them.

Your content

What you write stays yours. You give us the permission we need to store and display it for the purpose of running the service — showing your tournament in Discord and on its public bracket page. That permission ends when the content is deleted, except for copies in ordinary backups.

Availability

TourneyEngine is early software offered free of charge, and is provided “as is”. We do not promise it will be available, correct, or uninterrupted. Features may change or be withdrawn. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and it depends on Discord, which we do not control.

Keep your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose. Brackets and results can be affected by outages, mistakes, or an organizer deleting a tournament.

Suspension

We may remove the bot from a server, or block a person or a server from using TourneyEngine, if these terms are broken or if the service is being used to harm people. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will say why.

Paid features

Everything is currently free. If paid features are introduced, their pricing, billing and refund terms will be set out before you are asked to pay, and will apply in addition to these terms.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, or for anything arising out of a tournament itself — its conduct, its result, or its prize. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and continuing to use TourneyEngine after a change means you accept it. If a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to say so rather than relying on the date alone.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, and the courts there will hear any dispute about them.
